Hour wait for taxi pickup at NYC’s John F. Kennedy Airport

The ongoing shortage of yellow taxis at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport left travelers waiting in line for at least an hour on Sunday night.
Twitter user Craig Shapiro shared a video of the taxi line at Terminal 5. Minimum 1 hour taxi line at midnight @JetBlue terminal 5 at Jfk and @Uber is 150 bucks minimum to get basically to downtown Manhattan. kids crying, older people struggling. @JFKairport you gotta get this under control, Shapiro tweeted.
Due to increased wait times for taxis at JFK Airport, visit the Welcome Center on the arrivals level for help with alternate transportation options, the airport tweeted Sunday.
The number of yellow taxis has been declining throughout the pandemic, but recent rising costs have made the $52 flat fare between JFK and Manhattan less viable for drivers, who can make more money picking up fares elsewhere.
