INDYCAR’S Next Move Is Bolder and Safer

Indianapolis – INDYCAR is ready for a new look and feel into the excited world of open wheel racing with a new aero package being added to the cars for 2018.
Debuted today at Indianapolis Speedway for the 2018 season, the cars that will enter the racing season next year will be powered once again by Honday and Chevrolet engines in collaboration with INDYCAR and Dallara for the chassis.
This entire project was followed through by Jay Frye, INDYCAR’s president of competition and operations. Bill Pappas, INDYCAR’s VP of the competition and race enginnering department. Tino Belli, INDYCAR’s director of aerodynamics.
The cars in 2018 will come in two different variations from super speedway ovals and short ovals and then the other package will be race ready for road courses and street circuits.
The Dallara IR-12 chassis which has been used in the series sine 2012 is still the foundation of the 2018 car but the aero kit is more thrilling and the construction of the chassis and body will help to project the series drivers even more.
