Porsche Debuts First Electric Car – Porsche Taycan

The auto industry was treated to one of the top sports car manufacturers debuting their new all electric vehicle this week. Porsche calls their first ever electric car the Taycan , on Wednesday. Porsche debuted the Taycan in two high-performance versions. The first being a 670 horsepower Taycan Turbo and then a 751 horsepower Taycan Turbo S.
Quite a few people were taken back originally by the turbo name since these are electric cars with no turbochargers or petrol engines running a turbine style power adder. Porsche also uses the word “Turbo” in their 911 platform where a 911 Turbo S is actually a twin-turbo charged 911 and a typical 911 has no power adders.
In addition to the power output figures, the Taycan will only achieve those numbers while in the “Overboost” mode when requested by the driver.

Porche over the years has teased the world with their all electric vehicle and on Wednesday, the Taycan was offically released to the world and will be the production model the German company will move forward producing for the entire world. The price is what most people are wondering since the Taycan is said to be competing with the other American auto maker. The Turbo model will be around $151,000 and the Turbo S model will be about $185,000.
If the driver decides to use the “Overboost” feature in the Taycan, the car will rocket from 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds.
“In every aspect, acceleration, deceleration going into curves, going out of curves, everything about the car — and you were in the car — always feels like a sports car,” Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Porsche North America
