Ram Recalling 1.4 Million Trucks Worldwide For Tailgate Issue

Published

on

Ram is recalling about 1.4 million pickup trucks due to a malfunction that allows the tailgate to open while the truck is in motion.
The global recall includes 2019–2022 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups. The Ram 1500 Classic, trucks with “multifunction” tailgates and trucks with tailgate sensors are not affected.
Stellantis, formerly Fiat Chrysler, said the tailgate striker plates on the recalled models may not be properly aligned, preventing complete closure.
All but about 170,000 of the affected trucks are in North America. Owners can take affected trucks to dealers for inspection and repair.
