Toyota’s Gazoo Racing debuted over the weekend at the Tokyo Auto Salon their version of a road-going ultra-high performance hypercar. The Toyota GR Super Sport Concept is based off the Toyota TS050 LMP1 prototype program. The TS050 LMP1 prototype if you are not familiar is the Toyota competition racecar that competes in the World Endurance Championship and more specifically at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Toyota TS050 was most of the time the fastest car in the LMP1 category at Le Man but due to most of the time unlucky circumstances would either not finish the race or would have an unexpected part failure with a few minutes to go in the grueling 24 hour race. The TS050 LMP1 utilizes a twin-turbo hybrid 2.4-liter V6. The GR Super Sport Concept will have an engine setup similar to the the TS050 that creates roughly 1,000 horsepower.
