This Ferrari Just Sold For $48 million

Feast your eyes on the latest world record holder. A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that just sold over the weekend at the RM Sotheby’s car auction in Monterey, California. The GTO was sold for $48.4 million which sets this 250 GTO as the most expensive car ever auctioned in history publically.
Until this weekend a 1962-63 Ferrari GTO fetched $38 million in 2014 at a Bonhams auctions. There have been a few Ferrari 250 GTO’s sold privately for upwards of $70 million.
What makes the Ferrari 250 GTO so special and sets it apart from others is not just its’ beauty but the 250 GTO was some of Ferrari’s most successful racecars during their time. A fascinating fact about the 250 GTO is that the 36 examples that were produced by the Italian auto maker are still in running order to this day.
